Shipping crews, Myanmar

During the Covid-19 pandemic, a group of shipping companies asked us to assist with the repatriation of stranded seafarers back to Myanmar from destinations including the Dutch Antilles, Singapore, Nairobi, Ukraine and Cairo. With borders closed and scheduled services largely suspended, the individual companies had been unable to fly their crews home, resulting in many being out at sea for over a year. The clients now wanted to charter a larger aircraft as a group, allowing them to transport all 180 seafarers home at once.

OUR SOLUTION

Route: Amsterdam > Yangon (fuel stop in Dubai)

Aircraft: Boeing 757-200

The clients arranged for the passengers to travel from their various locations to Amsterdam, where they would board the charter flight on to Yangon. We sourced a Boeing 757-200 that was large enough to accommodate such a large group along with their luggage and our expert team worked around the clock to negotiate Myanmar’s strict travel restrictions and secure the necessary permits for the flight to go ahead. We then tackled the huge task of arranging Covid-19 tests for all of the passengers and plane crew prior to departure.

THE FINER DETAILS

Attention to Detail: Each passenger was provided with a travel pack of PPE and hand sanitiser to use onboard the flight.

24/7 Personalised Service: A dedicated ACS flight representative travelled to Amsterdam the day before the flight to ensure the final preparations were in place. They also travelled onboard the aircraft to oversee operations and service throughout the flight.
