Repatriation mission, Germany and Namibia

As the Covid-19 pandemic left thousands of people stranded abroad during a global lockdown, Air Charter Service was asked to fly a group of Namibian citizens home from Germany, before bringing back Germans who were stuck in Namibia on the return flight. A smaller aircraft had initially been arranged for the repatriation mission, but demand was so high that a larger aircraft was needed.

OUR SOLUTION

Route: Frankfurt > Windhoek > Frankfurt

Aircraft: Boeing 747-400

The client had initially anticipated accommodating 250 passengers on the flight, but with no scheduled flights to Namibia demand quickly increased to over 400 (plus several pets!), so we chartered a Boeing 747-400 with 24 business-class and 445 economy seats.

Whilst we didn’t need a permit to fly to/from Frankfurt, we found it difficult to secure permission to land in Windhoek; however, our expert team used their unrivalled industry contacts to quickly secure the necessary paperwork. We worked tirelessly to coordinate passengers arriving in Frankfurt on connecting flights and ensure both legs of the charter ran smoothly.
