Chicks, Algeria

A freight forwarder asked Air Charter Service to help fly 13,000 chicks from Germany to Algeria in June 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, after being impressed with our performance on similar jobs in previous months. The chicks needed to be safely transported within hours of hatching and had already travelled from the United States to Germany on a commercial flight, but limited scheduled services meant a charter was needed for the final leg of their journey to Algeria.

OUR SOLUTION

Route: Frankfurt > Algeria

Aircraft: Antonov AN-26

We sourced an Antonov AN-26, which was the ideal size and price for the consignment and allowed us to load and offload the chicks quickly. Our team liaised with the partner airline to ensure they had the correct licenses to transport live animals and secured the necessary permits for the flight to go ahead. We also coordinated with the handling agents and vet lounge at the airport to make sure the chicks were transitioned smoothly.

THE FINER DETAILS

Global Network: Our New York and Frankfurt offices worked together to arrange the ideal solution. Having representatives in both time zones allowed us to respond to the client’s queries quickly.

Personalised Service: An ACS representative was present to oversee the flight and ensure the chicks were well cared for throughout.
