Arranging a lease for a national postal service
During the Covid-19 pandemic, an airline working for a national postal service asked us to help to get cargo shipments from Asia to their European base, then onto to the USA. With border closures and travel restrictions grounding commercial flights, such loads could no longer be transported in the belly of passenger planes, so a freighter was needed to keep things moving. We set about arranging a long-term leasing solution.
Our Solution
Type of Lease: Wet
Aircraft: Airbus 330-200P2F
When our client confirmed the size of each shipment, our leasing experts knew a midsize freighter was the best option for their needs. Supplementing cargo capacity was something we’d been assisting many of our customers with during the pandemic, so we were familiar with the leasing market and identified a solution within minutes.
Our team was marketing an auxiliary freighter for another client, which had a 50-tonne payload that was ideal for the postal deliveries. The aircraft was available for a long-term lease, so we leveraged our relationship with the lessor to negotiate the terms as quickly as possible. Thanks to our unrivalled contacts and industry expertise, the postal service were delighted to be able to resume deliveries swiftly, with the lease continuing for almost 14 months until passenger planes were back in operation.
